Living on the north Norfolk coast is a dream for many.
However, at Holkham we try and make it a reality – particularly for those who already live and work locally. One of our businesses, Built by Holkham, is focused on our ambition to “be a force for good in helping local communities to thrive, by providing employment, homes, and support for local businesses and charities.”
We own, let and manage around 300 residential properties across 12 villages along the north Norfolk coast, including the Burnhams, Wighton, Warham and Castle Acre. In addition to this, we are also investing in the creation of new homes to help support our local communities for both today and tomorrow.
With projects in the planning and construction phases, and some now completed, this is an exciting time for Built by Holkham and for those wanting to buy or rent a house locally. Have a browse of our projects, in the various stages, below.
Built by Holkham
Unlike most development companies that build for speed and profit, we are here for the long-term and therefore wish to build homes that will last for generations and we’re proud of.
Craftsmanship, quality finishes, sustainability and excellent customer service are at the heart of everything we do. We are rare in that we have our own joinery workshop onsite and make windows and doors for many of our historic properties, together with having an experienced, passionate and skilled team – many who live in a Holkham home themselves.
Futureproofing our homes is high on our agenda, maximising their efficiency to deliver lower energy use and bills. From the heating and insulation materials we use to waste management and biodiversity, we are ever-evolving and committed to lead the way in what we do.

Our plans and proposals
Working closely with North Norfolk District Council, we are proposing the projects below.
Mill Road
We are planning to deliver a new development of high-quality homes, including 1.5 acres of recreational space, leading off Mill Road in Wells-next-the-Sea. We would like to share our ideas with you.
Burnham Market
We are planning to deliver 12 high quality, new homes off Creake Road in Burnham Market.

Construction on these homes in Wells is beginning in summer 2024.
