Does the Park £6 ticket cover parking on the beach?

No it doesn’t. You can buy a £13.50 all-day ticket from either Wells Beach Car Park or Lady Anne’s Drive which gives you free parking in the Park on the same day.

I’m an HHA member, do I get free parking?

No, there is a parking charge of £6 in Holkham Park.

Do you have to pay to park if you’ve got a blue badge?

Yes you do have to pay.

Can I pay for parking by card/cash?

Yes. All machines accept coins or contactless payment.

Is there accessible parking?

Yes. You will find accessible parking at all of our car parks.

How much is it to park my horsebox?

It costs £25 to park your horsebox. Please check the restricted timings for horses visiting Holkham Beach on weekends and holidays. Click here for full details.

How far is it from Wells-next-the-Sea to Holkham Park?

It is 2 miles.  Holkham Beach is 1.5 miles from Holkham Park.

Can I arrive by public transport?

Holkham village is on the coastal bus route – see traveline.info for details and timetables. From the bus stop there is a pleasant 15-20 minute walk through Holkham Park to the attractions.

How can I enter the park if I am arriving by bus or large vehicle?

Please contact the visitor reception in advance so that we can arrange for you to arrive via the South Gate.

How can I enter the park if I am arriving by car?

Please arrive at the North Gate, our main visitor entrance in Holkham Village, use NR23 1RH for directions. Note that width and height restrictions apply.

How can I enter the park if I am walking or cycling?

There are pedestrian gates on the north gate in Holkham VIllage, the East Gate from the Wells-next-the-Sea direction, the south gate at New Holkham and the West Gate from the Burnham Market direction. Cyclists can also use these gates.

How much is it to park in Holkham Park?

£6 all day, and it is redeemable in the Gift Shop against purchases of £35 or more.

Does my all-day ticket from the beach cover parking at the Hall car park?

Yes, the £13 all day beach ticket can be used at the park on the same day.

Do you have any electric car charging points?

We have EV chargers in Holkham Park and Lady Anne’s Drive car park. We also have them at The Victoria and Pinewoods for the use of their customers.

Our EV chargers are operated by Park & Recharge.

Do you have any overnight parking?

Not for visitors – only for guests staying overnight at The Victoria and Pinewoods Holiday Park.

Do you do weekly parking permits?

Although we do not offer weekly permits, we do have annual parking permits available.

Accessibility

Is it possible to get on the beach with a wheelchair from Lady Anne’s Drive?

There is a boardwalk from the carpark to a viewing platform overlooking the bay. The boardwalk continues to the beach, however with the tide the sand is always moving so sometimes there can be a drop off the end of the boardwalk onto the beach.

Am I able to take my dog on the beach?

Yes, however there are some restrictions in place in certain areas to protect wildlife. These will be clearly signed. Please keep dogs on leads or under close control at all times.

Am I able to take my horse on the beach?

Yes, however always check our website as we do have time restrictions in place at peak times.

How easy is it to get a wheelchair around the Walled Garden?

There is step-free access. All of the paths are gravel; however we do have mobility scooters visitors can use for free around the garden on a first come first served basis.

Can you visit Holkham Hall in a wheelchair?

Yes, we are able to accommodate most manual wheelchairs. We have a stair climbing machine to use in the marble hall, and accessible ramps on entry. There are manual wheelchairs to borrow for visitors who are able to transfer out of their own electric wheelchairs.

Can you drive around/through Holkham Park?

No, access is restricted to keep our visitors and wildlife safe.

Admission and tickets

Can we visit Holkham Park for free?

If you are arriving by car, you pay £6 to park then its free for you to explore Holkham Park. If you are arriving on foot, bike or by public transport then there is no charge.

Are you National Trust?

No, the estate is in private ownership. We are members of Historic Houses.

What does my Historic Houses membership include?

Free access to Holkham Hall, Walled Gardens and Holkham Stories. You must have a valid card with you. You do not need to pre-book your ticket, just bring your valid membership card to our Visitor Reception on the day.

A parking charge of £6 applies.

I’m a member of English Heritage, can I get a discount?

Yes, we work in partnership with English Heritage to give their members a 20% discount.

Why is the Hall only open 3 days a week?

The hall is a lived-in family home. We also have private events and visits, such as school visits or weddings, on days the hall is not open to the public.

Do we need to pre-book?

For general admission to The Hall, Holkham stories and walled garden you do not need to pre-book, as we have no limit on numbers. However you may pre-book online if you’d like to. For special events such as guided tours and tractor rides there is limited capacity so we always advise to pre-book.

Do you offer concessions?

There are no concessions for seniors. We offer a free carer’s ticket for each disabled visitor.

Attractions

Can I – or my dog – go in Holkham Lake?

No, people – and dogs – are not permitted in Holkham Lake. This is to reduce the risk of disturbance to wildlife and ensure your and your dogs own safety.

What is Holkham Stories?

An interactive exhibition taking you through 400 years of Holkham’s history, up to the present day and beyond. It is a great introduction to the wider Holkham Estate.

When was the hall built?

Between 1734 and 1764,

Who owns Holkham Hall?

The Coke family who have owned and lived in Holkham Hall continuously since the 1750s.

How big is Holkham Estate?

The Holkham Estate covers just over 25,000 acres of northwest Norfolk near Wells-next-the-sea.

When is St. Withburga’s Church open?

It is usually open daily 10am-4pm.

Can I take bags into the Hall?

To limit any damage to the collections at Holkham Hall, we ask that you carry rucksacks in your hand rather than wear them on your back. Thank you for your cooperation with this.

How long does it take to walk to the Walled Garden?

It takes between15-20 minutes from Visitor Reception. A limited amount of parking is available at the garden for blue badge holders.

Can you buy tickets on the gate to the Walled Garden?

Tickets for the Walled Garden can be purchased at either Visitor Reception or the Walled Garden itself.

What facilities are there at the walled garden?

There are toilets, tables and chairs and usually food concessions selling drinks, cakes and ice cream.

Can I buy gift vouchers by phone?

Where can I use Holkham Gift Vouchers?

Courtyard Gift Shop, Courtyard Café, Visitor Reception, (for tickets to all our attractions and events and Holkham annual car parking permits), The Victoria, Pinewoods Holiday Park, Beach Café, and the Lookout.

How long are the Gift Vouchers valid for?

Vouchers are valid for two years from the date of purchase, this can be found on the reverse of the voucher.
