Eat, shop and stay

The Victoria

We are delighted to welcome you to The Victoria to dine in our restaurant and stay in our beautiful rooms.

The Victoria is a 4 star hotel ideally situated moments from the golden sands of Holkham beach and at the gates of Holkham Park – a perfect location to discover Norfolk’s windswept coastline, seaside towns and spectacular countryside.

We have twenty individually decorated rooms, across two historical buildings. Our rooms range from small, cosy doubles to large family suites, and we welcome dogs in our rooms in the main building.

It is arguable that our main attraction is the food we serve in our restaurant, for which we received two AA Rosettes in 2023. Our main themes are fresh, local and seasonal, and we are proud of each and every dish we produce.

Everything we do here at The Victoria is focused on making our hotel and restaurant as sustainable as possible. Find out more about our sustainability efforts, which support Holkham’s WONDER mission.

Pre-booking is highly recommended to avoid disappointment, and our restaurant and bar is open to diners and residents only. Online restaurant bookings are only bookable a week ahead — please do contact us directly if you wished to book a table further in advance. There is a two-night minimum stay on Saturday bookings, staying either Friday-Saturday or Saturday-Sunday.

To book, call us on 01328 711008, email victoria@holkham.co.uk or use our booking buttons.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Dining

The Victoria’s carefully curated menu showcases the very best locally sourced ingredients. The quality of our ingredients is paramount, whether it be fish, shellfish or samphire from the north Norfolk coast, beef from our farms, lamb or pork from one of our farm tenants or vegetables from Holkham’s Walled Garden. In the winter we serve wild game from the family shoot and venison from the estate’s herd of Fallow Deer.

Our orangery offers magnificent views over the Holkham National Nature Reserve, while our restaurant provides a cosier feel. In the cooler months, warm up by our log fire.

Please note, hotel residents have priority for lunch and dinner tables and therefore pre-booking is advised if you wish to dine with us.

What our customers say about The Vic

‘We have just returned from a 3 night stay with our 2 dogs. As ever all of the staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble. The food was very good and it’s such a great base for a lot of long and varied walks. The Coasthopper bus stops right outside which means you can walk as far as you want without worrying about the return leg. We have already booked our next visit.’

What our customers say about The Vic

‘We enjoyed another great two night stay at The Victoria Inn. The staff and management were friendly and professional. The food was superb and of the highest standard of quality and service. It was on a par with top restaurants we have eaten at in London. And our dog was made very welcomed. We’ve booked again for next year, this time with our family!’

Barbara, Tripadvisor Review

What our customers say about The Vic

‘The staff were attentive without being intrusive, were scrupulously polite and thoroughly professional.  Our room – No. 2 – was light, spacious and well kept.  The food was excellent – beautifully cooked and served – and I note that much of it was sourced from the Holkham estate and that was evident from the taste. Suffice it to say, my wife and I look forward to returning to the Victoria, probably next year.’

WONDER

We’re inspired by our natural environment and are committed to being environmentally and ethically responsible.

We heat the hotel using a biomass boiler fuelled exclusively by Holkham woodchip: the woodland is certified under the UK Woodland Assurance Standard (UKWAS). Our LED lighting is powered by certified renewable energy sources. Our gardens support biodiversity with native, pollinator-friendly plants.

Wherever possible, our ingredients come from local suppliers within a 50-mile radius. Many come from the estate itself, including venison, beef, lamb and vegetables. We are closing the loop on compostables: any compostable packaging, food and plant waste is collected and composted, where it ultimately forms a nutrient rich compost which is used in the Walled Garden.

We were voted no. 2 in Visit England’s Guide to Eco-Friendly Breaks in England – January 2022. We received Green Tourism Gold Award in our first assessment the following year and we’re delighted to have maintained this high standard since.

We have four EV chargers here at The Victoria for guests to use.

In-room massages

We are sorry but in-room massages are currently unavailable. There are great spas and beauticians in the local area – please ask our reception team for recommendations.
