New for Spring half term, we have a special production of The Princess and the Goblin in the warm and cosy setting of the Lady Elizabeth Wing.

Every summer, Holkham’s historic walled garden becomes the backdrop to an exciting and eclectic mix of theatrical performances. The perfect setting to enjoy a summer’s evening of outdoor theatre and a perfect family treat during the summer holidays.

The Princess and the Goblin

Tuesday 18th February, 2.30pm

Join us in the Lady Elizabeth Wing for this wonderful new play for children based on the beloved novel by George Macdonald.

The evil goblins under the mountain plan to kidnap princess Irene and force her to become their queen. Can her magical great-great grandmother, and Curdie the brave miner boy save Irene before it is too late? What other dastardly plots might the goblins be hatching, and will Curdie be in time to stop the goblins taking the most terrible of revenges?

This enchanting tale of faith and courage in the face of adversity is suitable for everybody from the age of 4 upwards.

The performance will take place inside the Lady Elizabeth Wing. Doors for the performance will be open at 1.45pm and the performance will commence at 2.30pm. There will be an interval of 25 minutes. Please ensure that you bring your ticket(s) with you to show on arrival and bring low-backed seating or rugs. Please note that food is not permitted to be eaten inside the performance area. The Courtyard Café will be open for refreshments during the interval. Please let us know prior to the event if you have any particular access requirements.

Wonder with Grimm

If you go down in the woods today, you’re sure of a big surprise!

Everyone knows the stories… or so we believe. What if Little Red Riding Hood never entered the woods? Or Snow White didn’t wake up?

Gather around the campfire for an evening of enchanting storytelling full of magic, puppetry and music. Pack the picnic basket, dress for the weather and don’t forget to bring something to sit on as Heartbreak Productions invites you into the fantastical world of the Brothers Grimm in this family friendly version of the fairytales we all know and love - with a modern twist!

The Further Adventures of Doctor Dolittle

Following the phenomenal success of 2018’s tour of The Adventures of Doctor Dolittle, Illyria is delving back into Hugh Lofting’s amazing stories to bring you a brand-new musical adaptation of the Doctor’s FURTHER adventures with Jip the Dog, Dab Dab the Duck, Gub Gub the Pig and Polynesia the Parrot.

Where in the world will they go? Will they even stay on this world?! Which new animals will they help along the way? Will the Rats still have pithy observations to make? Is Gub Gub still dreaming about cake?

The FURTHER Adventures of Doctor Dolittle features a fully orchestrated score, amazing puppets and plethora of songs that our audiences will be singing along to for years to come.

Mr Stink

You’re invited to celebrate Annabelle’s 10th birthday, hosted by everyone’s favourite MP candidate, Janet Crumb! (Almost) everyone is welcome… that is, everyone apart from Chloe’s particularly smelly new friend, Mr Stink.

Macbeth

The Lord Chamberlain’s Men, the UK’s premier all male theatre company – with direct links to the history of William Shakespeare – invite you to join them this summer for the breathless and brilliant tragedy, Macbeth.
