Celebrating 75 years of Holkham Hall welcoming you in
Step inside history as Holkham Hall marks a remarkable milestone – 75 years since it first opened its grand doors to the public. In the summer of 1950, visitors were welcomed in for the very first time by the 5th Earl and Countess of Leicester and their family – a bold and heartfelt move to secure the future of the Hall and estate in post-war Britain.
This summer, we honour their vision with a special in-Hall exhibition celebrating that first open season and life at Holkham in the early 1950s. From family stories to national moments, original keepsakes to never-before-seen treasures, there’s plenty to uncover, including a glamorous piece kindly loaned by Lady Glenconner herself. What could it be?
There’s something for the whole family to enjoy, with nostalgic touches and fun nods to the era – but we won’t give it all away…
Whether you’re a first-time visitor or one of the many who have walked these rooms over the years, join us as we raise a toast to 75 years of Holkham hospitality.
This experience is included in your standard Hall admission ticket. Holkham Hall is open on Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
