Welcoming you back to Holkham

Update following the govenment announcement that from Monday 14th September you must not meet with people from other households socially in groups of more than six.

We ask our visitors to please not visit Holkham Park, Wells and Holkham beaches, our cafes or any of our attractions in groups of more than six, unless you are all from the same household or bubble.

Walks and tours - We have been accredited with the ‘We’re Good to Go’ mark (see below) and our guided walks and tours are Covid-secure. They are legally and safely able to take place either indoors or outdoors and most tours have capacities well below the legal maximum of 30 people.

A safe, secure and warm welcome back to Holkham

We have approached re-opening in a cautious and phased manner to allow us time to plan and implement a safe welcome back for you, our staff and local community. With acres of wide open spaces, as well as thorough staff training, additional cleaning regimes, social distancing measures and hand sanitising stations, you can rest assured of a safe experience at Holkham whilst enjoying the great outdoors.

So, what can you expect?

What’s open and when?

You can find out what is open and when by visiting our opening times page.

On the whole, apart from boat hire, you will find everything else open for you to enjoy.

In addition to new enhancements to the Walled Garden and suitably re-named Holkham Stories Experience (previously Field to Fork), you will also be able enjoy Feast in the Park, offering fabulous local food and drink concessions on Saturdays and Sundays and an outside bar from none other than Adnams, With views out over the lake and historic parkland, who could ask for a better spot to dine outside?

We are pleased to announce that Holkham Hall will has reopened to visitors until the end of October, offering more than just a glimpse of the Hall as you will be taken on an exclusive, 50 minute guided tour. All visits are timed and must be pre-booked online; your ticket will gain you entry firstly to the Holkham Stories Experience, followed by the Hall, and afterward, you are free to explore the Walled Garden at your leisure. Numbers will be limited and face coverings must be worn whilst inside Holkham Stories and the Hall. Note that due to social distancing, our stairclimbing machine will not be in action and we therefore regrettably are unable to accommodate wheelchairs at this time. Booking is essential and is available here.

Gardening enthusiasts will be keen to visit the newly designed and planted Square Two in the Walled Garden - titled The Ornamental Garden. The formal planting and colourful displays perfectly complement the historic conservation and newly cast bell of the Thomas Messenger Building.

Appreciators of heritage will enjoy the new rooms and additions to the Holkham Stories Experience, whilst the active amongst us will relish the opportunity to hire cycles and explore the park and country lanes, test our head for heights on the high ropes course and give children the chance to explore the Woodland Play Area.

The Courtyard Gift Shop is also open for some retail therapy (just remember your masks!), together with a newly created Discovery Trail for children and mapping for those exploring by foot or pedal. The Courtyard Café is also open and down at the beach, The Lookout, enviably positioned on the Holkham National Nature Reserve, is also open offering takeaway options together with some of the best, and nature-rich, views in the country.

Plus, The Victoria Inn and Pinewoods Holiday Park are now welcoming visitors who wish to stay longer than a day. All officially accredited with the ‘We’re Good to Go’ kite mark, you can be assured of a safe and relaxing stay.
