What’s on
Two Day Basketry Workshop
This two day basketry workshop will take you, step-by-step, through the process of making a round willow basket with local basket maker, Karen Bek.
Starting with the construction of the base, inserting the uprights, weaving the sides, creating a border and finally adding a handle. You will have a selection of willow varieties and colours to choose from and will learn traditional techniques to create your basket.
This course is designed with wellbeing in mind. Weaving and connecting with natural materials is a therapeutic process that allows us to slow down and focus.
Basketry can be quite hard on your hands and some degree of hand strength is required. This workshop is suitable for beginners and improvers and all craft materials are included.
On arrival please enter via the North Gates using the postcode NR23 1RH, park in the Main Car Park and make your way to Visitor Reception. The workshop will take part in the Education Room, where hot drinks will be provided throughout the day and extra refreshments will be available to purchase from the Courtyard Café.
Tickets to be purchased via karenbekwillow.co.uk/book-online
