As part of our ambition to be a force for good in the local community, we acquired this historic pub in Burnham Thorpe.

Following extensive renovation and extension, the pub reopened in 2021 under the management of Woodforde’s Brewery. Originally named The Plough, the pub is known to have been frequented by Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson when he returned to Burnham Thorpe in the 1780s and 1790s. It was renamed in his honour in 1798 after the battle of the Nile (Abu Qir).

Set a few miles inland from the beautiful north Norfolk coastline between the villages of Holkham and Burnham Market, it is a landmark that will now live up to Lord Nelson’s legacy, whilst providing local employment and a much-loved community nucleus for the village.

Find out more about the Lord Nelson.

We are thrilled to be working with Holkham and thankful to have the opportunity to be the guardian of this historic landmark with such a rich history.
