Commis Chef

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our kitchen team at the Victoria Inn.

Ideally positioned on the beautiful North Norfolk coast, The Victoria sits at the doorstep of Holkham Hall, the focal point of the privately owned Holkham Estate of which the Victoria is a part. Sustainability forms an important part of the Holkham mission statement and is at the heart of everything we do on the Estate. The main themes of The Victoria’s restaurant are fresh, local and seasonal. The quality of our ingredients is paramount, whether it be fish or samphire from the north Norfolk coast, beef from our farms on the Holkham Estate or venison from our herd of Fallow Deer. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of our senior kitchen team to deliver the food offering at the Victoria, reflecting the vision and objectives of the Holkham Estate.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, self-motivated and have a real desire to learn and develop new culinary skills. This role will involve running our busy larder section during a service and will consist of basic cooking and food presentation, ingredients preparation, stock control and will require both teamworking and the confidence to work alone. Basic food hygiene certification would be preferable, but full training will be provided for the right candidate. The Victoria is a successful, expanding business, who views its staff as its number one resource. This role will provide plenty of scope to develop and make a positive impact as the business enters its next phase.

The role would suit a current Commis Chef looking to join a great team and make an impact in an expanding business or an individual starting out and looking to learn the catering trade from the ground up. This is a full-time position and will consist of working 45 hours per week over 5 days, with shifts ranging between 7.00am and 10pm. The role will include evenings and weekend working.

Salary: £9.06 per hour (plus share of tips)
