Open Air Concerts
2015 – Jools Holland & Last Night of the Holkham Proms
The magnificent setting of the south park at Holkham was the backdrop to 2015’s open-air concerts, which presented two wonderful evenings of great entertainment.
We were delighted to announce the return of Jools Holland to Holkham Hall on Saturday 29th August. The concert starred Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra and featured the amazing drum talent of Gilson Lavis, with a special guest appearance by Marc Almond. The amazing vocals of Ruby Turner, Louise Marshall and Mabel Ray certainly wowed the audience and made it a boogie woogie night to remember.
The following evening, Sunday 30th August, saw the Last Night of the Holkham Proms concert, a uniquely British and hugely popular event with concert-goers. With heavy rain throughout the day, the audience were extremely lucky to enjoy a relatively dry evening and the sky was perfect for the firework finale. One of the most established journalist-presenters working in television today, Fiona Bruce, was compere for the evening and the concert was performed by the English National Philharmonic Orchestra with principal ENPO conductor Ben Crick. The orchestra was joined by soprano Donna Lennard and acclaimed tenor Lee Bradley and the audience was encouraged to join in singing some of Britain’s best-loved patriotic pieces.
