Christmas at Holkham

Make Christmas Special at Holkham

Christmas is always a very special time at Holkham. This year, rest assured we will continue to warmly welcome you to Holkham and cast a little Christmas magic, however things will be a bit different to usual. Our passionate and dedicated team has worked hard to curate a wonderfully varied Christmas programme brimming with events and workshops to suit all interests, whilst ensuring a safe experience for all. So although you’ll have to wait to enjoy a Christmas Candlelight Tour and Audience with Father Christmas until 2021, we are confident you’ll find something to enjoy this festive season at Holkham.

The hall will remain open for privately guided tours on selected dates in December, and although not lavishly decorated as normal there will be beautiful festive touches and trees. Talking of trees, for the first time this year we will be selling locally-grown trees for you to take away and adorn at home! Our Christmas Market – running each weekend from the end of November to Christmas – will ensure your are the bearer of the best gifts and dining on the very best local food and drink come Christmas Day. 2020 may not be the Christmas for large gatherings, but it does mean it is a time perfect for more personal and private experiences in smaller numbers. From meeting the team in the hall to wild walks on the nature reserve, tractor trailer tours (with a tipple included!) to An Audience with Lady Glenconner, we have events to savour (and to contemplate may cause you to miss out on limited tickets!). Our head gardener Mark Morrell, together with librarian and historian Mac Graham, will be hosting a rare event to observe how our art collection relates to the parkland landscape surrounding Holkham. There’s also an opportunity to meet Jake Fiennes, general manager of conservation, and head out on the Holkham National Nature Reserve and learn more about his work and vision. All this, together with a raft of creative workshops for adults and wild bushcraft for kids, means that Christmas is definitely ON and we can’t wait to welcome you. Now, where’s that mulled wine and mice pie…
