There are myriad reasons why a winter wedding is utterly magical and romantic yet spring tends to steal the limelight and be the most popular season for weddings. Here at Holkham we wanted to remind you why a winter wedding is the obvious choice for us…
Winter is romantic
The darker nights and cold weather make winter the perfect opportunity to have fun with your lighting. Fairy lights draped across the Lady Elizabeth Wing and wrapped around the trees outside make for a wonderfully romantic backdrop for photos. Suspended glass baubles holding tea lights, as well as opulent gold candelabras will create a cosy reception and roaring fires in the state rooms in Holkham Hall will keep your guests toasty.
Holkham is quieter
Between January and March we have less visitors to the estate, so you’ll feel like you have the whole Hall and park to yourself – aside from the deer of course.
Winter weddings are good value
Winter weddings are often cheaper than spring or summer. Suppliers are less busy so can give special offers, plus you’ll be more likely to secure the photographer, florist, caterer, band etc. that you really want. You will also be saving your guests money, hotel rooms and train tickets often cost more in peak seasons.
Embrace a rich warm colour scheme
Bright flowers work wonderfully to make spaces with deep wood tones feel cosy. Work warm jewel-coloured tones into your flower arrangements by opting for the likes of deep red hydrangeas, berried ivy and trailing eucalyptus or ivy.
Post-Christmas pick me up
Stop January and February from being the most depressing months of the year by giving your guests something to look forward to after Christmas. Everyone will thank you for it, not least because you’ll be giving them one wedding-free weekend in the summer.
Let it Snow…
Is there anything more magical than freshly fallen snow? There’s something about a blanket of white over the Norfolk parkland that surrounds our wedding venue that turns us into jittering children all over again!
Have fun with the food
Winter wedding menus tend to gravitate towards comfort food, which might be less traditional than spring or summer wedding breakfasts. Choose rich cuts of meat like venison and ox. You can also have fun with marshmallow and hot chocolate stations or spiced cocktails at the bar.
But our number one reason for booking a wedding between January and March 2020 is the fabulous Winter Wedding Special Offer we have running until 31st May. Book a Bespoke Wedding or Clifford Package Wedding to take place in January, February or March 2020 and receive a gift from Holkham. Worth over £750, our exclusive offer is made up of a £500
