Volunteers’ Week - Introducing Caroline and Roger

The start of June is dedicated to celebrating the valuable contributions volunteers make in our businesses and communities. Not only is Volunteers’ Week a time to say a BIG thank you for all the hard work, effort and time put in, but also a great opportunity to introduce you to a few members of our team, and let them tell you all about their roles within Holkham.

So, to start Volunteers’ Week, let us introduce you to Caroline and Roger…

“For two years, we have been the only husband and wife to be part of the volunteering team at Holkham Hall. It has been and continues to be, a privilege to be able to work on the projects and we have learned so many tips and tricks for use in our own home!

We cannot agree which is our favourite job out of the projects, as we have been involved with historical book preservation, logging fabrics and porcelain, cleaning brass and the wonderful silver, linseed waxing various items of furniture and the metal railings in the Marble Hall. We have even helped with preparations for the Christmas displays and, currently, we are helping to repair a beautiful tapestry. So, we are living testament to the fact that old dogs can learn new tricks. Long may our involvement continue.”
