Renowned for its spectacular coastline stretching 45 glorious miles, now is the time to visit north Norfolk. The rolling seasons and relentless tide, recast the landscape so beautifully that visitors are drawn back time and time again.
Whether a lone traveller, a couple yearning for a relaxing retreat or a family looking for an adventure, there really is something for everyone and Wells-next-the-Sea is a great base from which to explore.
Pinewoods Holiday Park is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the doorstep to Wells beach, separated only by sweeping white sand dunes and towering pines.
An idyllic landscape that gives you that ‘holiday feeling’ as soon as you navigate Beach Road. Leaving the bustling quayside behind, drive parallel to the winding harbour channel, passing yachts and quaint fishing boats before reaching the park, only to be greeted by the warm smiles of the Pinewoods team.
New for 2019, the park now houses six brand new, custom-made lodges. Set in a particularly scenic corner the park, the pastel coloured lodges are incredibly inviting. Each with its own parking space, wraparound deck, comfortable outdoor furniture and BBQ, they are ideal for those hazy summer months, where you can dine alfresco as the sun goes down.
Once inside, the well-appointed lodges exude luxury; decorated and furnished to a high standard, visitors can use and enjoy all of the mod cons one would expect to find in a new build. The open living space comprises a cloakroom with a washer/dryer, a fitted kitchen with stylish breakfast bar, oven, stove, microwave and fridge-freezer as well as a few added luxuries – a full-size dishwasher, coffee machine and a wine cooler. The comfortable dining area with overhead lighting is a great place to relax with plentiful seating and the adjoining lounge complete with a cosy fireplace, Sky TV, Wifi and Bluetooth speaker really helps you unwind and feel at home. The large, panoramic windows bring the outside in, as well as giving the lodge a light and airy feel.
Along the hallway, there’s a large bathroom with waterfall shower, as well as three bedrooms; a twin room, a triple room with a bunk bed and the master bedroom - a double with a large en suite. The beds are comfortable, the covers plush and the lighting soft, and it is clear that each area has been cleverly designed to ensure maximum storage for a homelike stay.
And, in case all of that wasn’t enough, the team has ensured that you are welcomed with everything you might need to begin your holiday in style. The essentials to start you off before you visit the local shops - tea, coffee, milk, sugar, bread, butter and marmalade, plus a treat for you – Prosecco, Holkham beer and apple juice and even a treat for your four-legged friend too.
Just a short walk from the lodges is a path to the pine woods – a picturesque walk with views over the Holkham National Nature Reserve. Once you reach the beach, you are greeted by those picture perfect and instantly recognisable beach huts that line the dunes. A must-see when in Wells and what’s more, a limited number are available to hire through Pinewoods on a daily or weekly basis.
But of course, a trip to the beach is not complete without a visit to the Beach Café. With a tempting array of cakes, sandwiches and savoury snacks as well as a range of hot and cold drinks, it is the optimal refreshment stop after a long walk.
Aside from the new lodges, Pinewoods welcome touring caravans and motor homes to its Horse Paddock which opened in 2017. This area of the park comprises 116 spacious and landscaped pitches. Pinewoods is also home to 670 static caravans, many privately owned but lots available to rent as a base for your holiday, with five specification grades to choose from based on facilities, and how long they’ve been in operation.
For an escape to the country, there really is nowhere better than Pinewoods.
