Holkham employs both seasonal and permanent employees, with a diverse range of skills and experience, from chefs and front of house, to gamekeepers and tractor drivers. Our busiest recruitment period is in February and March when we appoint the majority of our seasonal positions to start just before Easter and work until the end of October. We recruit additional front of house staff for July and August and typically these opportunities attract university or college students. Many of our seasonal employees return each year.

We offer great career opportunities at Holkham and most of our people decide to stay with us for a long time. When permanent roles arise we look for people that possess the necessary skills and experience and the right personal attributes to fit with the business. We often have permanent opportunities for school leavers, who are keen to pursue a career in catering, housekeeping or front of house. We work with local colleges to offer NVQs so that your progression is backed up with formal qualifications.

Part-time Office Administrator Heritage House Day Care Centre, Wells-next-the-Sea

Heritage House would welcome interest from anyone who would like to work in our office for two days a week, Thursdays and Fridays (10am-2pm) starting on 26th October 2017, or as soon as possible after. The position requires that you are reasonably computer literate (additional training given) and would enjoy working for the elderly and the vulnerable. Duties include:
Providing support to the Day Care Manager (DCM) and the Catering Manager.
Answering telephone and email enquiries.
Supporting day visitors, as directed by the DCM.
Checking invoices, writing cheques and arranging for trustees to sign cheques for payment of invoices, filing invoices.
Monthly invoicing of NNDC and day visitors.
Ordering stationery.
Emailing/mailing volunteers with information/newsletters.
Organising vehicle maintenance inc. MOT, vehicle tax, insurance.
200 Club – monthly.
Preparing and distributing posters advertising events.
In conjunction with the other Office Administrator:- Drawing up and managing the Transport Rota. Managing DBS checks for new staff and new volunteers. Other administration as required.

Hourly wage to be agreed. Overtime paid at hourly wage. Hourly wage annually reviewed by Trustees to take effect on 1st April each year.

Sales Executive - Holkham Events Limited

This is a new position within the wedding and corporate events business at Holkham Hall. The successful candidate will be required to progress enquiries and bookings for weddings, celebrations and corporate events at Holkham, ensuring that annual sales targets are delivered.

The ideal candidate will be a team player with at least one sales role in a leisure or hospitality business. You must be confident in telephone sales techniques as well as face to face meetings and written communication. Your role will also require strong administrative and computer skills and use of our CRM and invoicing systems. Working alongside our events and marketing teams, you will need to network proactively with businesses in the area and attend wedding fairs and exhibitions as required.

Competitive salary and benefits package depending on experience.

Work Experience and Internships

We are pleased to offer up to four work experience placements for local school pupils each year to help them understand more about their potential career path as well as learning about the different aspects of Holkham Estate. To be eligible you must live locally and be able to demonstrate a real interest in one of the careers we offer. Work experience will be offered for a minimum of 1 week and up to a maximum of 3.

Regretfully, due to the volume of applications we receive, we may not be able to offer a placement to every pupil that applies. Applicants may be requested to attend an interview before the offer of a placement is made. Please note that the estate is unable to respond to requests received after the closing date each year or to applicants that do not meet the eligibility criteria.

For our 2017 work experience scheme, applications open on 1st November and close on 16th December 2016. Interviews will be held in January 2017.

Internships and placements
Opportunities for internships for either university or college students arise when we identify a requirement for a student to assist us in one of our businesses. All Internships will be advertised on the vacancies page of the website as and when they arise.

Volunteers – Holkham National Nature Reserve

Do you care for this coastline?

We are looking for volunteers to help with various tasks on the Holkham National Nature Reserve. We meet every Wednesday and on one or two weekend days per month. Volunteers – Holkham Enterprises

Would you like to join our small team of volunteers in the Landscape Department?

We are looking for volunteers to help with the walled garden project at Holkham Hall which is currently being restored to its former glory. You will get involved in a variety of jobs in the gardens including weeding, pruning, watering, planting and painting. You do not need to be highly skilled, just have enthusiasm for gardening and be keen to help. Our opening season is from April to October and we can arrange days to suit you.

We are also looking for willing and passionate volunteers to help with a variety of gardening jobs to maintain the intricate patterns of the formal parterres on the terraces of Holkham Hall, which were designed by leading landscape gardener W. A. Nesfield in the 19th century.
