Mills & Reeve Norfolk Grey Partridge Award

June 2014 – Holkham Estate has been awarded the Norfolk Grey Partridge Award in recognition of efforts made to encourage grey partridge numbers.

Justin Ripman, the partner at Mills & Reeve responsible for the award, commented “Holkham has been a finalist before and Lord Leicester’s commitment to increasing grey partridge numbers has been evident for many years. Kevan McCaig who was previously at Sandringham, seems to have taken this to the next level in terms of habitat management and a very impressive integration with what is a significant commercial farming operation.”

Syngenta Farm Sprayer Operator of the Year Regional Winner

12th June 2014 – Congratulations to David Wroth of Holkham Farming Company who has won a prestigious award as one of the UK’s top farm sprayer operators.

David was presented his award as the Regional Winner of the Syngenta Farm Sprayer Operator of the Year at the International Sprays and Sprayers event, held as part of Cereals 2014. David is a highly experienced sprayer operator, protecting a diverse range of crops across the estate’s 2200 hectares of arable land, including cereals, oilseed rape, sugar beet and potatoes.

The judges were particularly impressed by David’s skills in practical application techniques and the farm’s meticulous maintenance of the sprayer. David has put together a readily accessible ‘spares kit’, carried on the sprayer to ensure he can quickly resolve most problems and keep going when out in the field.

Syngenta Application Specialist, Ben Magri, said: “The FSOOTY Awards judges all aspects of farm spraying to identify the very best operators across the UK, and to share their skills and expertise. David has consistently shown outstanding skills and works to very high standards to achieve the best possible results. He has proved a worthy winner by demonstrating that best practice can deliver efficient, cost effective and, above all, safe crop spraying. Syngenta recognizes that the skills of the sprayer operator are paramount in achieving the potential from all our crop protection products.”

2014 RICS East of England Awards

15th May 2014 - We are delighted to announce that the Manor Farm development has won the regional RICS East of England Awards in the residential category.

The RICS residential award honours an outstanding residential development of either a single building or overall scheme, either new build or conversion and evidence of a successful project.

The judges said “The entries this year were diverse and this posed the question of how to compare schemes, all of which were good quality. However, the Holkham Estate project demonstrated high quality workmanship with careful design to create well proportioned units that did not compromise internal layout, bearing in mind that the scheme involved creation of residential units with in an existing shell. The work involved conversion of existing building and therefore an element of ‘conservation’. This is reflected in the careful choice of materials and finishes. Overall, an impressive development of high quality appearance and build.”

Holkham wins EDP Tourism Awards 'Best Marketing'

21st November 2013 - Holkham Hall has scooped yet another award! The 2013 EDP Tourism Awards, Best Marketing category.

The category offered an opportunity for businesses, attractions and organisations to gain recognition for their efforts in adopting a proactive approach to marketing and the judges were looking for either one specific marketing activity contestants were proud of, or an overview of the whole marketing programme. Judges were looking to find a business that researched and thought through the various marketing platforms used, could give evidence that a significant impact had been achieved from their marketing campaign or activity, be it through footfall, profile or profitability, ensured that their marketing activities are communicated internally and adopted within the business and that could give evidence that their marketing activities fit strategically within the overall company business plan and within its brand values.

Sponsored by Take One Media, ‘Best Marketing’ was contested on the night by Holkham, Norfolk and Norwich Festival and Norwich Cathedral. As winner, judges said that they were impressed with Holkham’s entry and “with its clear vision to see Holkham recognised as the rural estate against which others will measure their performance”.

EDP Tourism Awards Finalist 2013

We are proud to announce that the Beach Café was a finalist in two categories at the 2013 EDP Tourism Awards.

In the ‘Coastal Leisure’ category, which was open to businesses and events in coastal towns and villages, from piers and holiday parks to shows and cafes, all that contribute to make our coastline special, the judges praised the “infectious enthusiasm” of the team at the Beach Café, the successful mix of modern and traditional and the cafés simple, locally-sourced menu. Well done to the team!

The second successful category and accolade was for ‘Best Food and Drink Tourism Attraction’. This category recognised the fact that food and drink now play a key role in enhancing the visitor experience and attracting greater footfall and sought to celebrate those who have evolved into something of a ‘destination attraction’ on the strength of their food and drink offering.
