The Lake

New for 2012

We are delighted to welcome 'Norfolketc', a family run business, who have teamed up with Holkham to manage a selection of activities on the lake. 'Norfolketc' also run a sailing and power boating school at Morston and run trips and tours at Blakeney harbour.

There are now even more opportunities to explore Holkham's watery world with our new programme of activities. Why not try a relaxing and leisurely lake cruise, hire a rowing boat, canoe or kayak hire. For those visitors feeling really adventurous, try water zorbing to really get your heart racing!

Lake Cruise

10am-5pm on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays and daily during school holidays.

Operating Dates: April: 1st-16th,19th,22nd,23rd, 26th, 29th, 30th

May: 3rd, 5th-7th, 10th, 13th, 14th, 17th, 20th, 21st, 24th, 27th, 28th, 31st

June: 2nd-11th, 14th, 17th, 18th, 21st, 24th, 25th, 28th

July: 1st, 5th, 8th, 9th, 12th, 15th-31st

August: 1st-31st

September: 1st - 6th, 9th, 10th, 13th, 16th, 17th, 20th, 23rd, 24th, 27th, 30th

October: 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th, 11th, 14th, 15th, 18th, 21st, 22nd, 25th, 27th-31st

Each cruise lasts 25 minutes.

Lake Cruise Tariff:

Adult £3.50, Child (5-16 yrs) £2.50

Boat Hire - Rowing Boats, Canoes and Kayaks

10am-5pm (last hires 4pm) Sundays and Thursdays from June to September, plus daily during school holidays.

Rowing Boat Hire Tariff:

Each boat seats up to 5 people. 30 minutes £7, 1 hour £12

Canoe Hire Tariff:

Each canoe seats 2-3 people. 30 minutes £7, 1 hour £12

Kayak Hire Tariff:

Perfect for just one person. 30 minutes £6, 1 hour £10

Water Zorbing - Suitable for ages 5 years upwards

Tickets for all lake activities are available from our Ticket Office in the courtyard. Cash sales only are available at the jetty.

The Lake at Holkham

The lake, for the most part, follows the line of the original tidal creek, which was dammed and excavated to create what is now a very large and beautiful stretch of water. It is a haven to wildlife and home to thousands of fish and eels. The Nature Trail follows the line of the freshwater lake and has 28 information panels full of interesting facts about the plants, insects and animals to be found here.
