Private Guided Tours

With its splendid Palladian architecture, William Kent designs, vast collection of paintings, sculptures, books and manuscripts, private guided tours of Holkham Hall offer visitors a unique experience.

The tours have an obvious appeal to societies, groups and organisations with specific interests in the arts, architecture and history, or they can be attractive to those who would like an informed and detailed guide to make their visit memorable.

About the tours

Private guided tours of Holkham Hall are available for a minimum of 12 people. Large parties are most welcome, but it will be necessary to divide the party into two manageable groups.

The Hall Administrator, the Deputy Administrator or both, dependent on the size of the group, conducts the tours.

The tours are estimated to last approximately two hours. Upon arrival, you are welcomed and taken into the magnificent Marble Hall, where, seated for the first 15 minutes, we introduce you to Holkham. After which your fascinating tour of the State Rooms begins.

The Hall Administrator and his Deputy have a wealth of knowledge of Holkham and its history, and will happily impart all they know.

The tours can be offered all year round. Out of season (normally from November to Easter) the tours can be conducted on any day at a suitable time. During the visitors' season, tours can be conducted at a suitable time on the two days during the week when the Hall is closed to the public. Or, on a day when it is open to the public, they can be held in the morning starting by 10am.

Please note that due to the popularity of private guided tours, a charge of £50 will be levied in the event of cancellation of a confirmed booking.

In season, why not consider extending your visit to Holkham by visiting the other attractions we have? The Bygones Museum and History of Farming Exhibition, Pottery Shop and Stables Café add variety to your visit and allow you to appreciate that Holkham is much more than a stately home.

Arrival coffee or lunch in the Stables Café can be arranged for those groups interested. Click here to view the menus and further information.
