Group Visits
Holkham is much more than a stately home, and our numerous attractions offer visitors a memorable day out.
A visit to Holkham is a perfect excursion for groups, organisations, societies and coach parties and we are happy to liaise with tour operators, travel companies and social secretaries to create an individual package for a visit.
Groups are welcome over the Bank Holiday weekends and during the main season June to September. Unfortunately, due to the limitation of 40 people per tour, we are unable to accommodate parties when our Audio Tours are in operation.
School parties are always welcome, as we can give children an educational insight into how Coke of Norfolk developed Holkham into an historic agricultural estate. Our Marketing Manager, Laurane Herrieven, would be happy to discuss the various options available to schools and provide a comprehensive educational visits risk assessment.
What does Holkham offer visiting groups?
Pre-booked groups of 20 or more people visiting Holkham are able to benefit from the following:
• A department to deal with your booking on a one-to-one basis, and on the day of your visit, to
• meet your group on arrival, distribute tickets and brochures and deal with payment and queries.
• 10% discount off the advertised admission prices.
• Free admission to the attractions for the organiser or courier of the group.
• Free admission to the attractions for the coach driver.
• A voucher for the coach driver for complimentary refreshments in the Stables Café.
• Free coach parking.
• Opportunity to pre-book morning coffee, lunch or afternoon tea in the Stables Café.
• Credit vouchers are accepted from organisations by prior arrangement.
It will take you approximately 1¼ hours to visit the Hall and possibly the same length of time should you wish to visit the Bygones Museum and History of Farming Exhibition. Please bear in mind that last admissions to both attractions are at 4.30pm.
Guide Books for the Hall are priced at £5.50 and are available to purchase from the Hall itself or the Pottery Shop and Ancient House Gift Shop on the main coast road at Holkham. The guide is full of background information on the ancestry of the Coke Family, the State Rooms in the Hall and also gives a further insight into the rest of the Holkham Estate and its various enterprises.
There are knowledgeable stewards in each of the State Rooms to answer questions, or we can offer an audio tour narrated by Lord Leicester, which lasts approximately 45 minutes and is available at £2.00.
After your visit to the Hall, you exit via the Old Kitchen out into the Stables Courtyard. Here you can consider a spot of retail therapy in our Gift Shop, with its wide range of tasteful gifts and souvenirs. Alternatively relax and enjoy some refreshments and something to eat from The Stables Café. Whilst here, don't forget to try our delicious Holkham Ice Cream, made on the estate and available in both traditional and tempting seasonal flavours.
If shopping isn't for you, why not choose to wander in the extensive deer park with its fascinating and educational Nature Trail and quiz. Or if the weather is fine, enjoy a leisurely boat trip on the lake. Boat trips operate, conditions permitting, on the days when the Hall is open to the public (adults: £3.00 children: £2.50).
Group Catering
The self-service Stables Café serves everything from tea and sandwiches, to a variety of hot, delicious cooked meals with a daily special on the menu.
If individual catering does not appeal, why not consider choosing from our selection of pre-booked menus? We can offer groups the opportunity for all members to dine together in a specially allocated area of the Café, where they can relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and good service.
