The Gift Shop

When our gift shop closed its doors at the end of the 2010 season, in conjunction with Viscountess Coke, we embarked on an ambitious project to support and promote the work of small Norfolk based businesses and enable them to “showcase” their work and produce to a wider audience in 2011.

Alongside out of Norfolk items, we are now delighted to offer for sale a selection of jewellery, photography, ceramics, ales, jams, chutneys and cordials, soaps, postcards, key-rings, pottery, and wood carvings, along with dog biscuits, leads and dog toys, all of which have been

hand-crafted and made in Norfolk. We regard these local suppliers as our partners and enjoy a close working relationship.

We look forward to welcoming you at our new gift shop and hope you will help us to support the talented artisans of Norfolk and if you, or anyone you know, is interested in becoming a Holkham supplier – please get in touch!  This is an on-going, developing project and we welcome all enquiries.

The History of Holkham Pottery

Holkham Pottery was founded by the wife of the fifth Earl in 1951 and was produced here until September 2007, making it one of the oldest established potteries in the country.  Elizabeth, Countess of Leicester started the pottery to make small, hand-thrown souvenirs for visitors to the hall and the collection grew to include an array of pottery ranges from floristware, tableware, lamps and mugs. Some items were limited in manufacture, making Holkham Pottery now a much sought after collectable.
