Cycle Hire

The traffic-calmed routes through Holkham park are perfect for cycling and an opportunity for visitors to explore more of the estate. Or if you are feeling adventurous, it's an opportunity to saddle up and explore more of the local area. Holkham byCycle Hire Centre is located in the courtyard adjacent to Holkham Hall.

There are a number of games that can be enjoyed on a cycle involving mental and/or athletic skills. Leaflets are available or you can download a copy prior to your visit click here (pdf).

June: 2nd-10th, 14th, 17th, 21st, 24th, 28th

July: 5th, 8th, 12th, 15th, 17th-31st

August: Open every day

September: 2nd-6th, 9th, 13th, 16th, 20th, 23rd, 27th, 30th

October: 25th-31st

Cycle Tariff

Day Hires

All 24 to 26-inch wheel cycles: £12 per day

Child cycles below these sizes - and tag cycles: £6 per day

Tag cycles for use with own cycles: £7 per day

Child seats: £4 per day

Child buggies: £9 per day (£10 own cycle)

2 Hour Hires

All 24 to 26-inch wheel cycles: £6

Child cycles below these sizes, tag cycles and buggies: £4

Child seats: £3

Discounts are offered for long term hire 2-3 days - 10% off quoted rates

4 days or more - 15% off quoted rates. Discounts cannot be combined.

Helmets are usually available, but hirers should bring their own to ensure a good fit.

Cycle accessories are on sale at the cycle hire centre - pumps, bottles, bells and more!

Safety, Security and Damage

There are weight limits for tag cycles 85lb (38kg), child buggies 70lb (32kg) and for the child seats 48lb (22kg). Security ID will be required (i.e. driver's licence or credit card) and cycles will only be hired to unaccompanied children if warranted by an adult. Customers are responsible for the security of their hire cycles and any damage will be charged for. A list of charges is on display at the hire centre.

New for 2012

It's not just bicycles for hire but now recumbents (lie-back cycles) and scooters for both adults and youngsters! The rates for hire are different to those for the conventional cycle fleet.

Tariff

Child scooters: £4 for 2 hours or £8 for the day (until 5pm)

Adult boardwalk scooters: £6 for 2 hours or £12 for the day

KMX and tri-speed recumbents: £10 for 2 hours or £16 for the day

Please note the following limits:

KMX Cyclone is suitable for ages 5/6 years up to 12/13 years but there is a maximum height limit of 5' 2" and weight limit of 65kg or 143lb (10 stone 2lbs).

Cuda children's scooter has a weight limit of 63kg or 140lb (10 stone).

Boardwalk adult scooter has a weight limit of 92kg or 202lb (14 stone).

Tri-speed 101 (16-inch front wheel) has a weight limit of 100 kg or 220lb (15.5 stone). BUT NOTE there is a height restriction on the trike itself.

Tri-speed 501 (20-inch front wheel) has a weight limit of 114 kg or 250lb (17.5 stone). BUT NOTE there is a height restriction on the trike itself.
