The hugely popular Holkham Country Fair is held every other year in the Park, on both sides of the house; and is attended by more than 40,000 people over the weekend.
The fair ensures two days of fun and interest for all ages, thanks to a full programme of events and displays in the Grand Ring, from morning to evening. More than 200 trade stands and a large variety of showground events complete the mix.
One of the themes of the fair is the celebration of the English countryside, its work and its leisure, its conservation, its traditions and its evolution. It is fitting that this event is held at Holkham, an estate steeped in the history of our nation, but with its own history of a modern and progressive approach; from Coke of Norfolk in the 18th century, to the very different challenges of the 21st.
2011 Holkham Country Fair
The 2011 fair took place on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th July. Heavy rain on the first day did not dampen the enthusiasm of visitors who enjoyed an exciting programme of displays in the grand ring. These included pony scurry driving, birds of prey, a gundog training demonstration, hound parade and terrier racing. There was also an exciting aerobatics display and parachute freefall display as well regimental displays from The Minden Band of the Queen's Division and The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment.
