Charity events at Holkham

The Holkham Estate has supported many charities over the years and hosts annual events such as the cancer charity 'Big C's Cycle Ride' in Holkham Park (pictured above right), as well as making donations to both small and large charities across the county.

Every other year funds are donated from the popular Holkham Country Fair which is held in the Park and in 2010 over £30,000 will be shared among some 15 different charities including local churches, the East Anglian Children’s Hospice (EACH) and rural conservation charities.

In October 2008, Holkham Hall was the venue for a glittering evening to mark the 40th anniversary of the Sheringham-based charity, Break (pictured above left).

Charity Policy

In recent years, the estate has received a growing number of requests for charitable events to be held within its grounds. To ensure that each charity has a clear time to hold their event, and to ensure the nature of the parkland and the welfare of wildlife are maintained, a new charity policy will take effect from 1st April 2010.

The estate will continue to support events for Big C, the Astro Fund, EACH and the Norfolk Churches Trust. The charity events policy will mean that there will be a limited number of events in any one year and any new event would need to take place between September and June.

Any new event will be subject to a facility fee with a 25 per cent reduction for charities. The facility fee will be based on the degree of involvement required by the estate and its team of staff. The basic facility fee will start at £900 for outdoor events and £2,000 for the use of the hall.

Requests to hire the park or the hall should give as much detail as possible and should be submitted at least six months in advance. All submissions will be considered by the events management team and priority will be given towards charities aimed at benefiting people and projects in Norfolk.
