Holkham retains Coast Magazine Award for "Best British Beach"

24th March 2011

Holkham Beach first won the coveted Best British Beach Award in 2009 and we are delighted to have been awarded the title for the third year in a row.

The categories of 'Best British Beach' and Best Seaside Holiday Destination' are decided on by Coast Magazine reader votes alone. The miles of dunes, windswept sands and maze of creeks and saltings have made the beach a winner, with readers voting Holkham as their top choice, over runners-up Studland in Dorset and Botany Bay in Kent.

TV presenter Michaela Strachan and Coast Magazine Editor Clare Goherty awarded the prize to Celia Deeley, General Manager for Holkham Enterprises (see photo left) at a ceremony held at the Country Living Fair in London.

Clare Goherty Coast Editor say "We are delighted to join with Joules once again in celebrating an especially strong line-up of seaside talent. The quality of this year's nominations is proof that the visitor experience and lifestyle to be had by the British coast just keeps on getting better. Congratulations to Holkham for being voted 'Best british Beach for a third time by coast readers."

Coast Magazine launched the awards in 2008 to recognise the people and places that represent all that is innovative, valuable and exciting around the British coastline.

The Norfolk coastline truly shone in the Coast Awards as the 'Best-Loved Pier' award went to Cromer Pier, only 40 minutes drive from Holkham. The 'Best-Coastal Path' award went to the

Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast Path.
