Architectural Exhibition
Slotting in, grafting on, extending to ... Ways of working in rural settlements
An exhibition at the Reading Room, Park Road, Holkham Village, showing a selection of work made by BArch students of Studio Jonathan Hendry/Mark Tuff from the School of Architecture in the University of Lincoln. The work looks at ways of working in the estate village through careful study and thoughtful proposition.
Students have explored ways of looking at rural settlements, understanding how they are organised and speculating on how they might bring new development to them; extending, infilling and densifying.
Their focus has been on the estate village at Holkham, its associated parkland and the surrounding reclaimed salt marsh landscape. Each student has found their own way of looking at the spatial and atmospheric structures within the village and has considered these experiences from the point of view of the inhabitant, tourist or worker.
The exhibition is open only from 7th July to 9th August 2010 and has been generously supported by the School of Architecture, University of Lincoln and the Holkham Estate.
