Music at The Globe
Some interesting background information about the artists that perform at The Globe.
THE NORFOLK DIXIELAND JAZZ BAND
The Norfolk Dixieland Jazz Band emerged from the ashes of another popular Norfolk-based traditional jazz band. Since it started playing in 2009, however, the NDJB has developed a sound and style of its own and has become popular with local jazz audiences. The band is, unashamedly, a robust, foot-tapping Dixieland band but the combined experience of the musicians and the range of instruments enable it to inflect tone and colour not always expected from a band of its genre.
The line-up is: John Gooding (cornet), Tim Densham (clarinet),Bill Brewer (trombone), Les Dilbey (banjo),
Vic Hobson (string bass) and Vic Brown (drums). John also plays trumpet and fluglehorn, Tim adds soprano and baritone saxophones to the ensemble and Les incorporates guitar.
Tim Densham is not able to play on 2 May but the band is delighted that Peter Oxborough is able to join it.

STELLA AND THE STARLIGHTS
"Expect the unexpected in 2010 - a jazz band that improvises, a jazz singer that can sing. Stella takes risks, she is exciting, she swings and tackles all material from belting out a Bessie Smith as it should be done, to a tiny vulnerable Billie Holliday. Why she is not famous yet remains a mystery to me. Perhaps she is shy!" - The Guardian
