Holkham employs both seasonal and permanent employees, with a diverse range of skills and experience, from chefs and front of house, to gamekeepers and tractor drivers. Our busiest recruitment period is in February and March when we appoint the majority of our seasonal positions to start just before Easter and work until the end of October. We recruit additional front of house staff for July and August and typically these opportunities attract university or college students. Many of our seasonal employees return each year.

We offer great career opportunities at Holkham and most of our people decide to stay with us for a long time. When permanent roles arise we look for people that possess the necessary skills and experience and the right personal attributes to fit with the business. We often have permanent opportunities for school leavers, who are keen to pursue a career in catering, housekeeping or front of house. Chef de Partie – The Victoria Inn

This is a great opportunity to join our fantastic kitchen team at the Victoria Inn.

Ideally positioned on the beautiful north Norfolk coast, The Victoria sits at the doorstep of Holkham Hall, the focal point of the privately owned Holkham Estate of which the Victoria is a part. We are very proud to have been awarded Gold Award status by Green tourism UK in recognition of our environmental policies and to have appeared in this year’s good food guide.

The main themes of our restaurant are fresh, local and seasonal. The quality of our ingredients is paramount, whether it be fish or samphire from the north Norfolk coast, beef from our farms on the Holkham Estate or venison from our herd of Fallow Deer. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of our senior kitchen team to deliver the food offering at the Victoria, reflecting the vision and objectives of the Holkham Estate.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, self-motivated and be able to consistently work to the highest standards. NVQ certification is preferable but previous experience will also be considered. The role will include, cooking and presentation, food preparation, controlling stock on a section and will require both working as part of a team and the confidence to work alone. Full training will be provided in each kitchen section. There is plenty of scope to develop and make a positive impact within the business.

The role would suit a current CDP looking to join a great team and make an impact in an expanding business or a Commis Chef looking to take the next step. This is a full time position and will likely consist of working 45 hours per week over 5 days, with shifts ranging between 7am and 10pm. The role will include evenings and weekend working.

Project Manager – Planning and Construction

The Holkham Estate in north Norfolk extends over 25,000 acres and has an annual turnover over of £20m with activities in agriculture, leisure and property.

The Project Manager, Planning and Construction will report to the General Manager of Land and Property. You will be responsible for leading, coordinating, administering and delivering specific planning and construction projects across the estate. This will include a broad range of project management duties including acting as the employer’s agent, undertaking contract administration duties, project programming and reporting.

From a professional background, the successful candidate will have a proven track record and demonstrate practical experience. The candidate will be an excellent communicator and be able to provide clear technical and compliance advice on planning and construction matters with the ability to balance the needs of multiple stakeholders working between departments.

Salary: Up to £40,000, subject to experience, plus other benefits. A full job description is available on request.

Cook - Courtyard Café

Are you as passionate about food as we are? Do you strive to deliver excellence, every time? If so, we would love to hear from you. Based at the Courtyard Café in Holkham Park, you will report to our Food and Beverage Manager and play a key role in developing our food offer and in the smooth day to day running of the café. You will be responsible for the preparation, cooking and presentation of food to the very highest standards and your role will include ordering and maintaining appropriate stock levels.

Salary: Circa £21,000, depending on experience. This is a full time, permanent position based on a 40 hour week, including bank holiday and weekend working. A job description is available on request.

Bar and Restaurant Team – The Victoria Inn at Holkham

This role will involve delivering excellent customer service in both our bar and restaurant, working alongside the kitchen and reception teams to consistently surpass our guest’s expectations. You should have a positive attitude, be flexible and confident with an eye for detail. Often you will be the first point of contact for our guests, helping to shape their first impressions of the Holkham Estate, therefore we are looking for high calibre candidates with a strong team ethos and a passion to work to the highest standard.

Previous experience of working in the hospitality sector would be preferred however full training can be provided to the right candidates. There is plenty of scope to develop and make a positive impact within the business.

This role could be offered on a full time, part-time or seasonal basis. In the full-time position it is likely you will work 5 days out of 7 with shifts ranging between the hours of 7.30am and 11pm. Both full and part–time roles will involve weekend working. Hours will be allocated fortnightly in advance.

Seasonal Car Park Attendants

We are looking for customer focused, friendly individuals to work across our car parks this summer providing an excellent point of contact for our visitors. The role involves helping to ensure that our car parks are kept in a good state of repair, tidy and clear of rubbish at all times and that the pay and display machines are in good working order. The role will involve flexible working hours including weekends and bank holidays.

Junior Sous Chef - The Victoria Inn

This is a great opportunity to join our team at The Victoria. The inn is ideally positioned on the beautiful North Norfolk coast and sits at the doorstep of Holkham Hall, the focal point of the privately owned Holkham Estate. The main themes of our restaurant are fresh, local and seasonal. The quality of our ingredients is paramount, whether it be shellfish, fish or samphire from the north Norfolk coast, beef from the farm, venison from the estate’s herd of Fallow Deer or fresh herbs from the walled garden. The successful candidate will support our Head Chef and Sous Chefs in delivering the food offering at the Victoria, reflecting the vision and objectives of the Holkham Estate.

At The Victoria it is our goal to meet every customer’s expectations. You will support the Head Chef and Sous Chefs in ensuring that the kitchen team work to the highest standards and in conjunction with the front of house staff to deliver the best possible service to customers at all times. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, self-motivated and able to consistently work to the highest standards. There is plenty of scope to develop and make a positive impact within the business. We are looking for a person with a passion for food, with experience working with fresh, seasonal, locally sourced produce and a minimum of 3 years kitchen experience at CDP or Junior Sous level. You should have experience of stock rotation in a busy kitchen environment and Food Hygiene Level 2 certification and ideally hold NVQ level 2 certification in Professional Cookery, however previous experience will be taken into account. The role would suit a current Junior Sous looking to join a great team and make an impact in an expanding business, or a CDP looking to progress their career and take the next step.

This position is full time and will consist of working 45 hours per week over 5 days. The role will include evenings and weekend working. Staff accommodation is available.

Receptionist - The Victoria Inn

This is a great opportunity for an individual with front of house or reception experience. As often you will be the first point of contact for guests to The Victoria Inn, we are looking for a candidate with great customer service skills and with passion to work to the highest standard. The role will involve answering the telephone, managing the booking system, greeting guests, answering queries and supporting the Food and Beverage team.

We are looking for customer focused individuals to support our weddings and corporate hospitality team in The Lady Elizabeth Wing. The role will involve flexible working hours including evenings and weekends to cover event set up and take down, bar duties and meet and greet.

Pinewoods Holiday Park, Wells-next-the-Sea

We are currently recruiting for full-time seasonal Receptionists in preparation for our 2017 season.

Seasonal positions will be paid £8.45 per hour and our trainee roles start at £6.00 per hour. All roles involve day-time weekend working.

Work Experience and Internships

We are pleased to offer up to four work experience placements for local school pupils each year to help them understand more about their potential career path as well as learning about the different aspects of Holkham Estate. To be eligible you must live locally and be able to demonstrate a real interest in one of the careers we offer. Work experience will be offered for a minimum of 1 week and up to a maximum of 3.

Regretfully, due to the volume of applications we receive, we may not be able to offer a placement to every pupil that applies. Opportunities for internships for either university or college students arise when we identify a requirement for a student to assist us in one of our businesses. All Internships will be advertised on the vacancies page of the website as and when they arise.

Volunteers – Holkham National Nature Reserve

Do you care for this coastline?

We are looking for volunteers to help with various tasks on the Holkham National Nature Reserve. We meet every Wednesday and on one or two weekend days per month. Volunteers – Holkham Enterprises

Would you like to join our small team of volunteers in the Landscape Department?

We are looking for volunteers to help with the walled garden project at Holkham Hall which is currently being restored to its former glory. You will get involved in a variety of jobs in the gardens including weeding, pruning, watering, planting and painting. You do not need to be highly skilled, just have enthusiasm for gardening and be keen to help. Our opening season is from April to October and we can arrange days to suit you.

We are also looking for willing and passionate volunteers to help with a variety of gardening jobs to maintain the intricate patterns of the formal parterres on the terraces of Holkham Hall, which were designed by leading landscape gardener W. A. Nesfield in the 19th century.
